NICOLE HART & The NRG Band is the natural progression in the evolution of Blues, Funk, and Rhythm & Blues, aggressively combining a seductive, exciting, funky feel with the soulful nuances of the Blues.
Under the direction of producer, arranger, and multi-keyboardist Lance Ong (David Sanborn, Andre Crouch), together with co-writer & lead vocalist Nicole Hart (Billy Joel, Harry Belafonte), the mission of this consortium is to bring intense, provocative music and a completely satisfying show to the audience. THE NRG BAND with NICOLE HART has been bringing crowds to their feet at festivals and club venues all throughout the Northeast.
Nicole’s timeless, powerful, intoxicating voice is beautifully soulsweet: silky, then gritty, classic yet absolutely contemporary. Ms. Hart is renowned for her electrifying stage presence. Lance Ong’s masterful command of the keyboards is undisputed, and he is absolutely one of the most exciting and versatile soloists on the scene today. As musical director, arranger, & keyboardist for the NRG Band, Lance enjoys melding his wealth of experience to this pure art form.
Nicole Hart: Lead Vocals
Her impressive resume includes work with a variety of music greats such as Harry Belafonte, Billy Joel, Michael Bolton, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley & has opened for Bernard Allison and E.C. Scott.. She began her career, hand chosen by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer: Shirley Alston, and became the first ever white singer for The Shirelles. Straddling the diverse musical terrain as defined by such icons as Susan Tedeschi, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, & Janis Joplin, Nicole’s timeless, powerful, intoxicating voice is beautifully soulsweet ~ silky, then gritty ~ classic, yet absolutely contemporary, and she is renowned for electrifying stage presence.
Lance Ong: Keyboards, Vocals, Musical Director
Lance Ong was part of a team that produced, wrote & arranged over 700 National Network TV commercials. He also wrote, produced, arranged & performed music for the CBS Sports Series “Winterfest”, which ran for 3 years, as well as the score for the Bruce Landsbury/New World Pictures film, “The Initiation.” His co-writing, producing and arranging efforts also include the theme to the “CBS Children’s Theater” series, which ran for 10 years, & the NBC series “Spencer”, “Under One Roof” and “The David Klein Show” for Alan Landsburg Productions, as well as the title track on the Crown International Pictures film, “Graduation Day.” Lance can even be seen and heard oncamera in the Brian DePalma film, “Carrie”, playing keys in the band during the infamous prom scene! His record credits include a Grammy Award winning album by Andre Crouch, David Sanborn, The Pointer Sisters, Grand Funk Railroad, Michael Murphy, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Anne Murray, Johnny Halliday and Sylvie Vartan, Trini Lopez, Erykah Badu & many others. His compositions have been performed by Liza Minelli & Rosemary Clooney. As musical director, arranger, & keyboardist for THE NRG BAND, he enjoys melding his wealth of experience to this pure art form.
